When Andrew and Lucy lost Ruskin in 2011, Andrew immediately got in touch and asked if I would paint his portrait for them. Of course, I was happy to oblige - particularly as I know from personal experience how devastating it can be to lose a pet. I know Andrew well through his Father, David, with whom I’ve worked closely for many years.

As I’ve mentioned, when the pet is no longer  here, I am only able to utilise existing reference and I think it’s fair to say that Ruskin looks very serious in this contemporary piece. I had to use several images to construct the finished work, but I always allow the customer to see any constructs that I have created prior to starting a portrait, so I was confident that it was what they wanted. I know that both Andrew and Lucy are very happy with the finished portrait.
